This combination creates an entirely new alloys that contain both the heavier and lighter elements in equal amounts. This is an important trend because it can lead to a number of products.However, if an alloy is formed with a metal with only trace amounts of the heavier elements, the result is a compound that contains very little or no properties that the scientists were hoping for. Such compounds are not good for the environment. They may be a challenge to produce in laboratories.
